When people ask me what it was like to have the opportunity to train with Rickson for 15 years and to be able to train with him while he was in his prime still fighting, it was MIND BLOWING to say the least!
To be able to spend so much time training with and watching him train gave me such deep insight not only into his technique but mentality and strategy. It really helped me to understand why by many of the best today, Rickson is considered the best EVER!
Every once in a while Rickson would sit me down and say something to me and it would stick with me.
I’d find myself pondering and thinking about it and what it meant to me.
On day 5 of the Sub & Surf Costa Rica camp it was Q&A day. One of the Black Belts asked me a question about passing.
It reminded me of something Rickson told me as a Brown belt, and it changed passing for me forever.
