How to use Hidden Jiu-Jitsu to make the fastest progress in your game

Hey guys, I've been asked this question a few times and so I wanted to write down an answer I hope will be a huge benefit to you in your training.

The question I get asked a lot is...

"You have a lot of courses online so which one should I purchase... and do I need to purchase in any specific order?"

When I originally started Hidden Jiu-Jitsu and was trying to decide how to organize the lessons to give students the greatest advantage in being able to develop quickly, I decided to organize the courses by position.

There are a few reason I decided to go this route.

First, it allows you to customize your learning.

Because different people have different strengths and weaknesses, and everyone develops their Jiu-Jitsu a little differently.

Thus, organizing the courses by position allows you to pick and choose what aspect or area of your game you want to learn and improve upon.

Most of us, after a few months in, will naturally feel better in some areas than others.

There will be areas where we feel strong and areas we feel much weaker.

So then organizing the courses by position allows you to customize your training and develop your weaknesses into strengths.

The second reason I chose to organize the courses by position is...

I feel the magic in Jiu-Jitsu is how the techniques flow together in a seamless way.

By focusing on a specific position, it really helps students to see and understand what the goal is from that position, what their different options are, and how sometimes one technique might not be available but another one is.

This is one of the most important lessons to learn early on in Jiu-Jitsu.

Is that there's always an option, and it is our opponent's reactions that will dictate what techniques we use, because we are never fighting against our opponent.

Rather, we the ideal is to capitalize and taking advantage of what they are giving us.

But in order to do that, the first thing we need to recognize and become aware of is what position we are in and then what are our goals and options are from there.

The third reason I decided to organize the lessons by position is...

When you can cover all the available options your opponent may have from a position, and how you could possibly deal with those, it creates a deep level of understanding, and with that comes confidence in the art.

If we are only taught 2-3 options in the beginning and none of them work, often this leads to doubt and frustration. Definitely not a beneficial way to feel when you're just starting off and trying to learn.  So by exposing and explaining more options, now you feel like no matter what happens you will have an effective answer or solution.

So there's no right or wrong way to go about learning or purchasing any of the courses I've made available to you, it's all just preference, you get to chose and decide.

Sometimes though I get the response "I'm bad at everything and I don't know where to start".

Well in that case I'm happy to offer some advice.

When most of us are starting out in Jiu-Jitsu, if we haven't had prior training in any other grappling art we are going to get dominated and submitted a lot.

So one of the first things to learn and start developing is our defense and escapes from submissions.

Nothing will boost our confidence more in the beginning than frustrating more advanced training partners and making it difficult for them to catch you.

That's why I created my Ultimate Armlocks Escapes and Ultimate Chokes Escapes course.Nothing will give you a bigger bang for the buck, especially as a beginner, than these two courses.

And as anyone will tell you, it's never too early to start developing your defense. After all, Jiu-Jitsu was an art created for smaller weaker individuals to over come bigger stronger individuals, so it's all about survival.

When most of us first start training, it's quite the humbling experience, because we are getting tapped so often.

Many times by training partners smaller than us. So being able to survive the onslaught will not only make it easier to avoid frustration and quitting, but it can also make training fun!

After you've learned how to stay safe from submissions, the next objective is how to safely escape these bad positions we keep ending up in, and then getting to good positions so that we have the opportunity to go for our own submissions.

By now you've probably heard the phrase "position before submission".

That means get out of bad positions, get into good positions, then go for a submission.

Because we want to fight safe and smart. So the next modules I would recommend are any of the courses where I show how to escape a bad position and get into a good position so you can start to dominate.

So in order from worst position to best:

Mount Maintenance - probably the worst position you could find yourself in in a fight, you want to make sure you can get out of this position quick and easy. You can find all the escapes to the mount here in this module.

Crosside Escapes - which for many people is the most difficult position to escape, and also the position that can be the most uncomfortable to be stuck under. You'll be able to find all the escapes for the crosside here in this course so that you're able to escape quickly and effortlessly.

The Back System - one of positions with the most success at finishing is the back, because the rear naked choke is such an effective attack.  You're not quite as exposed to strikes as you are from the mount or cross side, unless you're belly down on the bottom, so I feel mount and cross side are worse in a fight, but no one likes the feel of another person's arms around their neck squeezing the life out of them. All the secrets to staying safe and escaping the back are here in this course:

One of the position where we will find ourselves in the most danger of getting submitted is inside someone's guard.

In this position we are locked inside someone's legs, where they are easily able to control our balance and posture, which exposes us to an incredible number of submissions.

Armlocks, triangle chokes, guillotines, kimuras, cross chokes... the list goes on.

The videos in the Inside The Closed Guard series will help you to feel completely comfortable in someone's guard and easily break their legs (or they will feel so helpless they will break their legs for you) so you can start to get into a better position.

After those, you will have an incredible foundation and a much deeper understanding of how to stay safe and survive a fight using Jiu-Jitsu.

The rest of the courses, especially the courses focused on attacks, are where the tide turns and we start to feel like we have super powers.

Nothing is more empowering than knowing if you were ever in a physical confrontation, you can quickly and easily end the fight on your terms.

Below is the list of the rest of the courses and if you really want an unfair advantage you have to check out my recently released Soul Stealer course. It's one of the most powerful positions in Jiu-Jitsu that nobody knows.

I've had so many messages of people of lower rank catching people 2-3 belts higher and submitting them after they've bought this course.

I've even had people try to bribe me to take down the course so their training partners won't find out what they are doing, lol.
